What is a Working Barn Cat?

Some of the cats we rescue are happiest living independent lives, hunting mice and other critters, and it would be inhumane to return them to their original locations (construction zones, unsanitary sites, and abuse). Even after being spayed or neutered and brought indoors, they never became comfortable with direct human contact. But that’s okay because they’re willing to work for you as natural pest control in exchange for food and shelter and will thrive in the right environment.
